Introduction
Stressors come in all shapes and sizes, and it builds up. Most of us don’t account for that in our day-to-day routines, unfortunately. Stress is often defined as a bodily response to the demands of life. But there are also emotional and mental aspects of stress. It is experienced as thoughts and feelings as well as in the body. In other words, stress can have physical, mental, and emotional symptoms.
None of us can avoid stress completely, and we wouldn’t want to. Stress in small amounts can be helpful. But because stress disrupts the natural functioning of our bodily systems, chronic stress becomes an increasingly heavy burden to bear.
Stress is a normal part of life — good stress and bad stress. With bad stress, you have both physical and emotional reactions to certain triggers that can cause you to worry and feel on edge. Stress can fluctuate at work or at home, while challenging situations and other changes in your life can trigger it, too.
Few of us make time for stress relief in our daily routines, which allows stress to bubble away and build up. Some call it “the silent killer”. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution for managing stress. This workshop aims to enhance the participant’s understanding on stress and its management. With the awareness, the negative effects of stress can be minimized, or hopefully prevented.
