Event Details

While most of us have learnt how to manage stress in our everyday lives, trauma like natural disasters, tragic accidents, domestic violence and rape could cripple and debilitate our functioning system to work, eat and sleep. Even simple tasks like household chores would drain us of our energy.

Many such victims suffer in silence as their friends and family members often do not understand their suffering and not knowing how to help them. This workshop will help you to know how and when to provide basic care, comfort and support to people experiencing trauma or disaster-related stress.

At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

Part 1

  • Understand crisis and trauma and the impact on self, family, and community
  • Recognise symptoms of psychology-related stress, and know where to get the necessary assistance
  • Identify ways to take care of yourself before, during and after providing support to the survivors
  • Know how to help and when to refer client for professional help

Part 2

  • Case studies will be utilised to help participants integrate the knowledge, processes and skills into real-life situations
  • Learn how to apply psychological first aid in the initial stages and subsequent supporting techniques to help clients recover from their trauma
