Our workshop on ELDERCARE seeks to help caregivers to be more effective in caring for their loved ones as they understand the biological, psychological, social and spiritual implications of aging. As despair and other related mental health issues often set in due to the slowing down of their productivity, preventive methods and strategies will be discussed on the promotion of well-being among senior citizens. How can we help them feel safe and believe that their lives can continue to be meaningful? How do we meet their emotional needs and help them avoid depression? Are there steps to deal with vulnerability, loneliness, boredom and isolation? The Church can support an elderly person’s feeling of connection with the community beyond her family.

As many of our parents/church members will be in this category, let’s equip ourselves to care for them more effectively.

Objectives:

1. Understand important psychological and spiritual needs in eldercare for both the elderly and the care givers
2. To understand how to support the elderly in their vulnerabilities and as a community

Target audience:
Young adults, Senior adults, care givers, lay helpers working with the elderly, and those interested to learn more about caring for the elderly in their communities

RM50 for NACC member who sign up full certification program package
